This is a picture sent to me by my husband while he was visiting family in Austria. It comprises a huge pretzel: refined flour (= sugar) & high salt; a large beer: high sugar; potato salad: high sugar content in the old potatoes & high salt content, and the pink slab? Well, directly translated as Liver Cheese, although I’m assured it contains neither liver or cheese. This is a highly processed meat product of dubious origin. Its soft texture indicates high fat content plus some kind of rusk filler. The combination of high sugar, salt and fat with very little fibre and a distinct lack of anything fresh and green is frankly, awful. The question is, would he have ordered it if I’d been there? I think he knows better than that!
